Worlds Untold Research & Insights
Embedded within Worlds Untold, a AAA game studio in its startup phase under NetEase Games, I worked to build our Research & Insights program from its earliest days, ensuring that the studio developed alongside a foundation of feedback and audience understanding.
This program integrated all insights-related disciplines, as I believe that these functions work best synergistically rather than silo'd in their own departments. To support this, I took on the roles of user researcher for player insights, market researcher for audience and market insights, and foundational researcher to build theory and knowledge from cross-domain literature.
I began the program by introducing studio leadership to how research could support their decisions across all studio operations from leadership to on-the-ground development and worked to create a roadmap that scaled with the studio's needs.
Before the studio closed in late 2024, I had already implemented workstreams in the four pillars and completed major projects in Player, Market, and Studio insights, and was in the process of creating a telemetry spec to ensure that engineering development supported design needs for behavioral insights. Additionally, my research plan was used as a foundation for research programs in other NetEase studios.
